More about car leasing special offers

What is a car leasing special offer?

A car leasing special offer is a contract hire deal that a finance provider has discounted below its standard rate, usually to shift stock quickly. Everything else about the lease is unchanged: you drive a brand-new car, make fixed monthly payments for two to four years, and hand the car back at the end. Road tax, the full manufacturer's warranty and free UK mainland delivery are still included — the only thing that changes is the price.

Like any lease, a special offer is built from three choices:

  • Initial rental - an upfront payment, typically worth one, three, six or nine months of the monthly price, that goes towards the total cost of the agreement.
  • Contract length - how long you keep the car, most commonly 24, 36 or 48 months.
  • Annual mileage - the miles you expect to drive each year. Be realistic, as exceeding your allowance leads to an excess-mileage charge.
Why do leasing special offers appear?

Special offers are not loss-leaders with strings attached - they exist because of how the leasing market works. The most common reasons a deal is discounted include:

  • In-stock and pre-built cars that a dealer needs to register before the end of a quarter or the financial year.
  • Funder and manufacturer support that temporarily lowers the cost of financing a particular model.
  • Outgoing or facelifted models being cleared to make room for a new version.
  • Popular, high-volume configurations that providers can buy and price keenly.
  • Plate-change months (March and September), when supply and competition are at their highest.

Because each of these depends on stock and funder backing, special offers can be withdrawn at short notice - so the best deals reward people who are ready to enquire.

How to get the best leasing special offer
  • Compare the whole market, not a single broker. Moneyshake searches deals from across our panel of providers so you can see who is cheapest for the exact car you want.
  • Flex your initial rental. A larger upfront payment lowers your monthly cost; a smaller one keeps cash in your pocket but raises the monthly.
  • Weigh contract length against mileage honestly. Longer agreements spread a car's depreciation and usually show a lower monthly price, but you are responsible for the MOT once a car turns three.
  • Prioritise in-stock cars if you want your new car fast - they are typically delivered in two to four weeks and are often the keenest-priced deals.
  • Check what's included. Every Moneyshake deal comes with road tax, the manufacturer's warranty and free UK mainland delivery; insurance and maintenance are arranged separately.
  • Act decisively. Headline offers move with stock levels, so a deal you like today may not be there next week.
Personal vs business special offers

Special offers are available on both personal and business contract hire - use the Personal / Business toggle in the search above to switch between them.

  • Personal contract hire (PCH) is for private drivers. Monthly prices shown include VAT, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.
  • Business contract hire (BCH) is for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies. VAT-registered businesses can typically reclaim up to 50% of the VAT on the monthly rentals (and 100% on a maintenance package), and low-emission or fully electric cars attract low company-car (Benefit-in-Kind) tax - which is why EVs feature so often among business special offers.

Special offers FAQs

Are car leasing special offers actually worth it?

Yes. A special offer is the same brand-new car, on the same contract hire terms, at a lower monthly price. The discount comes from the funder, not from the specification of the car, so there is no catch beyond the deal's availability.

How long do special offers last?

It varies. Offers depend on stock and funder support, both of which can change daily. A deal can be available for weeks or disappear within a day, so it pays to enquire promptly once you find one you like.

Can I still choose my mileage and contract length on a special offer?

Yes. The usual initial rental, contract length and annual mileage options still apply. The headline price reflects a representative profile, and your quote will update once you set the terms that suit you.

Do special offers include road tax and delivery?

Yes. As with every Moneyshake lease, road tax for the full term, the manufacturer's warranty and free UK mainland delivery are included. Insurance and any maintenance package are not included and are arranged separately.

Are electric cars included in special offers?

Often. Electric and plug-in hybrid models appear regularly among our special offers and are especially cost-effective on business leases thanks to their low Benefit-in-Kind tax rates.
