- Previously priced at: £28,905
- September discount price: £23,229
- Amount saved: £5,676 (20.5%)
MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles) don’t come much better than the award-winning Volkswagen Touran. Based on the even more successful Golf hatchback, it even feels as fun to drive despite being longer, wider and higher.
SE versions of the Touran are entry-level but still come with a plethora of standard features which are beyond the basics. For example, you’ll get 16″ alloy wheels, automatic emergency braking, all-round parking sensors, automatic lights and windscreen wipers, plus a 6.5″ touchscreen infotainment system.
3. Mercedes-Benz E-Class AMG Line Edition
- Previously priced at: £41,710
- September discount price: £34,057
- Amount saved: £7,653 (19.1%)
Refined luxury on four wheels. This is the E-Class’ bread and butter when it comes to taking it out on the road, with looks that can only be admired, not least because the prestigious three-legged star of Mercedes‘ graces the front of it.
You’ll be glad to know that September savings on the E-Class aren’t on just any model, but the sporty AMG Line Edition. It comes with cues to the brand’s performance arm, has partial leather upholstery and larger 19″ alloy wheels which all add a further premium touch to the car.
4. Suzuki SX4 S-Cross 48V Hybrid
- Previously priced: £20,759
- September discount price: £17,258
- Amount saved: £3,501 (17.5%)
The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross is an uncomplicated SUV which is the largest out of the manufacturer’s four offerings of this type of vehicle. It has a large boot, spacious interior and an uncluttered dashboard that allows you to easily concentrate on the road ahead.
An SZ4 may be the base model, but equipment levels are far from bog standard. As well as Bluetooth phone connection for the media system, you’ll get dual-zone climate control, 16″ alloy wheels and a rear-view camera for easier parking. Additional driver convenience features includes adaptive cruise control which automatically maintains a safe distance from the car in front.
5. BMW 2 Series Coupe M240i
- Previously priced at: £41,550
- September discount price: £34,895
- Amount saved: £6,655 (16.9%)
The latest generation BMW 2 Series cars might be the last lineup to include the classic two-door coupe body which we’ve come to know and love. This is because BMW has turned its attention towards championing the larger four-door Gran Coupe which has more family-friendly characteristics.
However, the silver lining is that you can still get hold of the most powerful version in the range: the M240i. Its 335bhp twin-turbocharged three-litre straight-six engine is one of the best the brand has developed and is the heart of the car’s performance. An exclusive sports suspensions and advanced precision handling brings the whole driving experience together.
6. Nissan Micra N-Sport
- Previously priced at: £17,525
- September discount price: £14,731
- Amount saved: £2,794 (16.2%)
Just like the all-electric Nissan Leaf, the similarly-styled Micra has grown up a lot since its very divisive styling of the early noughties third generation. In fact, we can be so bold to as say that it’s now a very good-looking car.
This can certainly be said about high-spec N-Sport models, which – as luck would have it – are available for a healthy 16.2% discount next month. In keeping with the ‘more for less’ slogan of any bargain, you’ll receive a sports suspension, sports seats in part-leather, a chrome exhaust pipe, rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera, and keyless entry and start.
7. Seat Ibiza SE
There aren’t many better ‘all-rounder’ first car choices out there than the Seat Ibiza. Each year the Spanish manufacturer seems to make it look sportier and include even more standard features across the range. On top of this, it’s still remained fairly cheap to run and has enough zip about it to make for a fun driving experience. Sporty FR models do this particularly well thanks to their stiffer suspension setup and option of more powerful engines.
The SE model can be had for cheaper next month, but it’s still great value when you consider the equipment it includes. Alloy wheels, an infotainment system, leather steering wheel and 60:40-split folding rear seats are all standard.
8. Vauxhall Grandland X Griffin
- Previously priced at: £28,855
- September discount price: £24,432
- Amount saved: £4,423 (15.9%)
Vauxhall surprised us all when they produced an SUV which ticked all the boxes and was still relatively affordable. At a time where the SUV market is as competitive as ever due to increased demand and plenty of supply, the Grandland X is one to consider if you need a family car which can take you most places.
Amazingly there are nine different versions of the Grandland X to choose from, but the Griffin sits solidly in the middle of the pack and is a popular choice. As well as getting Vauxhall’s latest 8″ infotainment system, the Griffin comes as standard with a 3D sat nav, a hands-free tailgate, rear privacy glass, sports seats and keyless entry/start.
9. Seat Ateca SE
- Previously priced at: £24,750
- September discount price: £43,615
- Amount saved: £3,852 (15.7%)
A flagship SUV for Seat, the Ateca allowed them to burst onto the flooded scene in 2016, in such a manner that didn’t disappoint either. It has a solid foundation which is shared with the pricier Volkswagen Tiguan, and is just as sporty too.
The entry-level SE guise of the Ateca comes with smart 17″ alloy wheels, chrome and matte black styling for the exterior, front comfort seats, Seat’s Media System Plus with Full Link smartphone integration, self-parking and much more.
10. BMW 5 Series M Sport
- Previously priced at: £51,545
- September discount price: £43,615
- Amount saved: £7,930 (15.7%)
BMW‘s ‘Jack of all trades’ 5 Series is a lot more car for only slightly more money than the ever-popular 3 Series. Bigger, more comfortable and ultimately a go-to for any businessperson wanting to come across as having a professional swagger.
Esteemed M Sport get all the brilliant safety knick-knacks as the other models, but come with bigger alloys and a more engaging suspension. The result is better handling round corner and an even smarter-looking exterior.
