2022 has seen a busy summer for new car releases, and things don’t slow down in August.

Cupra Formentor VZ5

Cupra Formentor VZ5 2022
  • New 390bhp Cupra Formentor confirmed for August
  • 0-62mph in just 4.2 seconds
  • Left-hand drive only
  • Will be offered in the UK
  • Only 7,000 will be made

The latest iteration of the multi-award-winning Cupra Formentor is bound to turn heads.

Not only is it Cupra’s most powerful SUV yet, but it will also be a bit of a rarity, with only 7,000 of them being made.

A left-hand drive car might put some UK buyers off. However, if you’re a real petrolhead, the promise of a powerful five-cylinder engine might just be enough to make a compromise when it comes to positioning of the driver seat.

Kia XCeed

Kia XCeed GT range
  • Fresh updates gives the Kia XCeed range more style and interior tech
  • Petrol and plug-in hybrid power available in the new range
  • Extra emphasis from Kia engineers to make the car look sportier
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard
  • “Tiger nose” grille and new, slimmer rear LED lights part of updates

The Kia XCeed accounts for around 10% of the brand’s UK sales, and it’s now receiving a fresh round of updates before going on sale this month.

Our favourite trim in the new range is a new sporty GT-Line spec. Lower air intakes, side cladding, a body-coloured diffuser at the rear and hexagonal-shaped rear lights make it very nice to look at.

Mercedes-Benz GLC

Mercedes-Benz GLC Second Generation
  • Tech-savvy, dual-screen layout of the C-Class available as standard
  • Three mild hybrid and three plug-in hybrid versions available
  • Boot size has increased from 550 litres to 620 litres
  • Interior dimensions remain similar, despite boot size increase
  • New assistance systems includes 360-degree parking camera

Mercedes-Benz’s most popular SUV, the GLC will be released in its second generation form this month.

Key updates to the range include six new hybrid engines, a bigger boot and a plethora of advanced tech. On top of a 360-degree parking camera, you’ll also get a lane assist function with active steering correction and active cruise control that can react to cars stopped on the road at speeds of up to 62mph.

Nissan X-Trail

Nissan X-Trail Fourth Generation (2022)
  • Hybrid engines and design inspired by ever-popular Nissan Qashqai
  • 12.3-inch infotainment system and instrument cluster as standard
  • Fresh and bold design follows that of its relatives
  • Updated tech and design overhaul inside makes it more modern
  • Higher specs will include ProPilot driver assistance systems

A fourth-generation version of Nissan’s seven-seater X-Trail will be released this month.

You’ll still get seven seats as standard in the new Nissan X-Trail, but the new CMF-C platform will give the car some much-needed ‘pampering’.

Just like the outgoing X-Trail, you can specify your SUV to have either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. If you choose the latter, you’ll get a new system called ‘e-4ORCE’ which includes different off-road driving modes for added versatility.
